Managing Partner, Ann Arbor

Darrell Hawley

I’ve been a Managing Partner in Atomic's Ann Arbor office since we opened our doors here in September of 2013. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of playing a leading role in growing the office from a talented core of four developers into a much larger team. Together, we're capable of software development in a multitude of technology stacks, software design, and project management. Much of my time is spent helping clients develop actionable plans for bringing their software to life.

After earning an M.S. in Geology from the University of Toledo, I reinvented myself as a software developer in 2000 to satisfy my need to create. Since then, I've created software, led software development teams, worked with teams to improve their process, and guided clients in creating compelling and effective software products.

I want Atomic's end users to experience what great software can be. To accomplish this, I engage my clients and their customers to develop their vision and then help them further refine it over the course of the project. For me, this process of identifying and sharing that vision is at the core of all successful software projects.

I have worked in several industries writing code in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Java, C#, and various flavors of Visual Basic for both desktop and web.

In the past, I've spent a number of years as a member of the CodeMash organizing committee and as well as the president of my local Little League.
