Atomic is growing a diverse and inclusive team of curious, creative people who love creating great software for our clients.
We're looking for thoughtful problem solvers who are passionate about development.
Since 2001, Atomic Object has created custom software products for web, mobile, desktop, and internet-connected devices. We were founded on the belief that not all software is created equal. Many people can write code, but it takes a close-knit team of passionate people to create exceptional, innovative products that change the way people do business.
We’re an employee-owned company and a certified B Corporation with 80+ Atoms based in our Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids, and Chicago offices. Unlike many other technology companies, we have a flat organization. There is no corporate ladder to climb. As a company that values transparency, we practice open-book management. At Atomic, you can stay close to the craft of making software for your entire career without missing out on owning a part of the company and its profits.
You'll work with a team of four interns during a 12-week summer program. The cohort will be mentored by a senior developer who'll spend roughly 20 hours per week with the team.
We'll spend the first six weeks learning our most common web development stack, one layer at a time. We'll start with the command line and work our way up to a full-stack. Some of the technologies we'll focus on are git, Node, Express, React, HTML/CSS, and Typescript.
We'll spend the second half of the program working on a team project using that stack. We expect to find an external client to provide project requirements and the excitement of real deliverables.
We'll also provide opportunities to job shadow our client teams and interact with folks in a variety of roles in our Grand Rapids office.
- Learn a full modern web stack, one piece at a time.
- Work with a team of developers to build production software.
- Experience working in an agile process.
- Build pair programming and test-driven development experience.
- Learn how Atomic runs projects and get to know our team.
