My passion for computer science started with wanting to know how computers worked. I asked family, friends, middle school teachers, but quickly after enough questions, I would always get met with an “I don’t know.” Dissatisfied, I took it upon myself to answer that question. Nearly a decade later, I still don’t feel like I have the answer. What I learned instead, though, is how fulfilling it is to learn the “why.” With every question comes an answer that gives me a deeper appreciation for the world around me, and the best part is — it gives me more questions to ask!My journey of asking “why” led me to Oberlin College, where I double majored in math and computer science. There, I honed in my problem-solving skills and gained a deep understanding of network and system architectures. My time at Oberlin also sparked my commitment to life-long learning — I want to question and investigate not only computers, but everything I interact with as well.
My love for knowledge eventually led me to want to share it, too. I picked up a variety of tutoring, teaching, and mentorship jobs. I learned how to teach, how to check understanding, and how to bridge the gap between what they know and what I know. My journey led me to becoming a dialogue facilitator, where I fostered community and understanding across differing opinions and identities. All of these experiences have shown me the joy of learning about others, and I’m always excited to build new connections!
At Atomic Object, my role as a software consultant and developer continues my passion for learning and connecting with others. I dive deep, learning as much as I can about the projects I’m on so that I can tailor my feedback and suggestions to fit the goals of the clients and users I’m working with.
Outside of work (when I’m not taking the bus as an excuse to embroider) I’m usually hiking, watching movies, or having long-winded conversations with my friends!
