For my ninth birthday, my dad gave me a copy of The New Way Things Work by David Macaulay and Neil Ardley. The book explained how hundreds of machines worked, including digital cameras, jet engines, and (my favorite) computers. It sparked my curiosity about how things work, setting me on the path that eventually led me to Atomic Object.
I graduated from North Carolina State University with degrees in Computer Science and Psychology. My passion for these two fields started with Macaulay and Ardley’s book and grew into a lifelong love of understanding both people and computers. In today’s world, people and technology are deeply intertwined, which is why it’s so important to understand both. When working on projects, I strive to approach software with an interdisciplinary mindset that balances technical solutions with the needs of the people using them. I also enjoy the ever-evolving nature of software development, where changing requirements ensure I’m always learning something new.
After a summer internship at Atomic Object, I was drawn to the company’s client-first approach, collaborative culture, and investment in both its people and communities. It was the kind of environment where I felt challenged to grow while working alongside people who cared deeply about building great software and strong relationships.
Outside of work, you can usually find me in the mountains, outside running, making pottery, or playing the mandolin at local bluegrass jams.
