I bring a decade of experience in software development and consulting, which began with my Computer Science degree from Michigan State University. My background—including roles as a software consultant, conservation corps member, and landscaper—informs my core belief in valuing effectiveness over efficiency in project delivery.
My personal philosophy centers on a strong, multi-tiered definition of “we,” and I reject the notion of “that’s not my problem”. I believe all issues sit within a shared definition of the team. I believe that any successful team’s outcome is dependent on the strength and balance of relationships and work management processes. In my experience, a team aligned in executing towards a well-understood goal will always outperform a collection of fragmented experts. I consider the shared experience of doing the work together to be an integral part of the final product. This collaborative approach has led to success in client work, such as developing an executive alignment tool that involved establishing work processes for an inheriting offshore team, and creating a sales dashboard that required unique strategies to align complex business logic from a legacy ERP system with subject matter experts. I have shared my stories on these and other topics in conference talks across venues like Agile and Beyond and the Association of Manufacturing Excellence.
