When I was in high school I knew I loved computers but outside of playing video games, I didn't know what I could truly do with them. During my senior year, I took an Intro to Computer Science class. Although we spent over a month learning how to build a for-loop, this class exposed me to a whole new way of thought and got me excited about what I could do in this field.
After high school, I went on to pursue a Computer Science degree at Hope College and learned how much fun it could be to develop software. Being able to start from nothing to end up with a new, working product is one of my favorite aspects of development. During my time at Hope, I was able to work as a researcher where I worked closely with a professor translating and optimizing a java program into a C++ program. I also had the opportunity, as a part of my senior capstone, to help develop a web app for the nursing department at Hope.
The summer prior to my graduation I worked at Atomic Object as an intern and within my first week knew Atomic was the place I wanted to be. The atmosphere at Atomic made me feel welcomed and created an environment in which I could learn and grow as a Software Developer. In 2022, after graduating from Hope College, I joined Atomic Object’s Accelerator program where I’m hoping to continue to learn and grow as a developer, consultant, and individual.
