One of my favorite questions has always been the infamous one that exhausts parents: "Why?" As a young person, I was always asking it about everything. When I started out in product design, I was delighted to learn that asking “why” is a critical part of the job.
As a Software Consultant & Designer at Atomic Object, I get to ask a lot of questions. It’s also my job to listen carefully to the answers so that we fully understand what brought a client to us, what’s standing in their way, and what’s important to them. From there, all of us can align on a shared product vision that will solve real problems (with a dash of surprise and delight).
My path to design has been a crooked one. I studied English and Environmental Sustainability at the University of Michigan, then jumped headfirst into tech after graduation. I've designed a small-business growth platform, a digital identity verification suite, and a connected pinball app for live arcade tournaments.
The products and industries may change, but the basics don't. Ask why, then listen carefully. I’m glad to be part of such a thoughtful, inquisitive team here at Atomic.
When I'm not making software, I'm making things with my hands: watercolor paintings, elaborate breakfasts, crocheted totes, suncatchers - you get the idea. In addition to hobbies, I also collect things: books, rocks, pins, cool sticks, mugs, and Figma shortcuts.
