Jordan Nelson

Software Consultant & Developer, Grand Rapids

Nelson Jordan 2017 Web

I believe that I inherited the love of building things from my father, a master carpenter, and a small business owner. Although building software is not as concrete as building a home, at the end of the day, I believe that I feel the same satisfaction. I discovered this at the age of twelve, and as a teenager, I spent all of my waking hours outside of school exploring computer programming.

I joined a small Internet Service Provider in my hometown at the age of fourteen where I learned in-depth knowledge of core Internet protocols, relational databases, and web technologies. I was primarily responsible for the development of an internal customer management and billing system.

After graduating from high school, it was a logical choice for me to solidify and expand my knowledge base by pursuing a degree in Computer Science at Grand Valley State University.

Shortly before graduating from college in 2006, I joined GE Aviation where I was exposed to a variety of software development platforms and technologies including embedded, desktop, and web. I spent four years on an international assignment for GE where I developed desktop and web-based avionics network modeling tools.

After eleven years with GE, I decided to pursue a different path and joined Atomic Object in 2017 as a consultant and developer and have since worked on projects for Masterpiece Flower Company, Eaton, and Gentex.
