Kasey Stowell

Software Consultant & Developer, Grand Rapids

Kasey Stowell

My passion is making, building, creating, and innovating. I want to make great ideas real for great people. Pre-engineering, I spent my time earning a fine arts degree at Kendall College of Art and Design, dreaming of becoming a comic book artist. When I realized how few arts jobs there were out there, I rethought my career and decided to attend Grand Valley State University for Computer Science. I am perhaps one of the only software developers you will meet who can talk your ear off about how grisaille is the best oil painting technique, or how Ashley Wood is an artistic genius.

While finishing my degree in Software Development, I interned at Steelcase in 2018. There, I worked alongside a physicist developing unique proof of concepts focused on machine learning, acoustics, and IoT. That same year, I was awarded the 2018 Grace Hopper Celebration Student Scholarship, which provided a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join other women at the annual Grace Hopper Celebration in Houston, Texas. These great experiences have made me passionate about bringing together people with non-traditional backgrounds into the world of tech. I strongly believe that anyone can make great things with code.

I am excited to now be a part of Atomic Object’s Accelerator program, where I get to learn how to be a great developer and consultant. Outside of work, I enjoy learning about game development and interactive storytelling. If I am not doing that, you will probably find me playing video games, reading comics, and eating tacos.
